I’m pretty sure the fruit roll-ups that you buy at the store don’t actually contain any fruit or very little. We have a recipe that uses real fruit to create a delicious fruit roll-up that’s much healthier.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 pound chopped fruit (peach, strawberry, raspberry, mango, apple)
  • 3/4 cup sugar (if you don’t want to use sugar, you can substitute with honey)
  • 1-2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degree F.
  2. Combine your fruit of choice and sugar in a blender. Once combined add the lemon juice and puree until smooth
  3.  Pour your pureed fruit to a saucepan and bring to simmer over medium-high heat and reduce to medium low, stirring occasionally
  4. As you get to the end of the cooking process you will need to stir more until almost all of the liquid evaporates and the mixture is thick
  5. Line your baking sheet with non-stick foil or silicone oven mat. Spread your fruit on the mat or foil with a spatula
  6. Bake until barely tacky which is 3 hours to 3.5 hours
  7. Move the sheet to a rack and let the fruit cool completely.
  8. Peel off the mat or foil and if the leather is is still moist, return to oven until dry (15-20 min)
  9. Once this is complete, lay the leather smooth-side down on wax paper and use clean scissors or kitchen shears to cut into strips while on the paper
